There is an incompatibility between the Sony readers and the default format of some 8GB and larger memory cards. The problem can appear after updating these cards for the second time, which is usually after installing your second cycle. The problem results in the reader failing to recognize the updated books. Either the "Collections" menu will be empty, or the books listed will fail to load.
The 2GB and most 4GB sized cards do not have this problem, and switching to one of these smaller sizes is the easiest way to eliminate the problem. However, if you want to continue using an 8GB (or larger) card, you can also eliminate incompatibility by reformatting it with our updated format procedure. The procedure takes only a few minutes, but it is a bit technical, and there's potential for data-loss if done incorrectly.
