Index Improvements for the Kindle DX

Two click-minimizing changes debut in our Cycle 1003 books for the Kindle DX.  First, the airport identifier indexes are now sorted so identifiers beginning with a letter come before those beginning with a number.  This reduces the number of "NEXT PAGE" clicks necessary to reach the more frequently used identifiers.

The second change affects airports with a small number of procedures.  Previously it was necesary to click into an "Approaches", "Arrivals", or "Departures" page if there were multiple procedures in the category.  Now if an airport has few enough procedures they are all listed on a single page in the table of contents.  This reduces the number of stick "clicks" necessary to select procedures at many airports.

The revision information changes we began beta-testing in December are now included in the regular cycle downloads for the Sony PRS-505 and Amazon Kindle DX.  The amendment number and revision date (soon to be amendment and amendment date) that is displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the printed plates is now rotated and displayed in the lower right-hand margin of each IAP in the Reader Plates books.  

Also, the downloads for the Sony PRS-505 are now more specifically labeled "with" and "without" the Airport/Facility Directories.  All the Kindle DX downloads continue to include the A/FD.

EXPERIMENTAL - IAP Revision Info

The FAA has announced changes to their Instrument Approach Procedure charts to make the revision information more useful.   And now with cycle 0913, we are beta-testing new versions of Reader Plates including the revision infomation that is normally cropped at the bottom of our charts.   The amendment number and revision date (soon to be amendment and amendment date) that is displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the printed plates is now rotated and displayed in the lower right-hand margin of each IAP in the Reader Plates books.   (Note: These changes apply only to Approaches where the revision information is in the lower left-hand corner, and not Departures, Arrivals, Airport Diagrams, etc.)   The new beta-test books "with Revision Info" are available now for download through our EXPERIMENTAL Installer.
